About
Jayson WechterSF Treasure Hunts are created by Jayson Wechter, a veteran San Francisco private investigator. Wechter has spent over two decades unraveling real-life mysteries, and knows first-hand how to give treasure hunters the experience of being a sleuth for a day. Players in SF Treasure Hunts evaluate and analyze clues the way a detective would, using their intellects and intuition. They follow a trail of evidence and search for a hidden treasure, leading to the joyful “ah-ha!” moment that investigators (and innovators in every field) relish.
Wechter has worked with some of the top attorneys and law firms in California on complex civil and criminal cases, and understands first-hand the importance of effective teamwork and collaborative problem solving. He has seen, in numerous high-stakes legal battles, how a focused, cohesive trial team can handle obstacles and attain success. He creates his treasure hunts to teach players the same team-building skills.
Wechter is an amateur historian who has been exploring San Francisco's neighborhoods and discovering their hidden treasures for over twenty years. He aims to share what he has discovered with his treasure hunters, to show them their urban environment as they haven't seen it before. His hunts lead them to hidden vistas, forgotten plaques and landmarks, overlooked vestiges of the past, and architectural ornaments or public art that most passersby never notice: a hidden dead-end street on Telegraph Hill with a breathtaking view of the bay; a narrow Chinatown alley with storefronts dating back to the 1920s; an overlooked byway with a mural that rivals the works of Diego Rivera; a forgotten downtown spot where a famous fictional femme fatale gunned down a private eye on a foggy night.
